Test Kitchen Tip
Mascarpone is a double- or triple-cream cow’s milk cheese that originated in Italy. It lends a creamy texture and sweet flavor to recipes.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°. Coat an 8-inch square baking dish or pan with nonstick spray.
Combine flour and salt in a small bowl; set aside.
Melt butter and bar chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, 3–4 minutes; remove from heat.
Stir in granulated sugar and cocoa powder.
Whisk in mascarpone, vanilla, and minced zest; add eggs, one at a time, stirring after each addition.
Fold in flour mixture just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared dish.
Bake brownies until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 45–50 minutes. Let brownies cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar, garnish with zest, and serve.

No need to dirty a cutting board and knife — break up the chocolate bar before opening the wrapper.
