Earl Grey-Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
The citrusy, floral flavor of Earl Grey tea adds an elegant note to these dramatic, ultra-decadent chocolate treats.
Ingredients
Five-Minute Morning Prep
Measure out and combine flour, cocoa powder, tea, baking powder, and salt. Cover with plastic wrap, and store at room temperature until ready to use.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°. Line 2 rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, tea, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
Stir together 1¼ cups granulated sugar and eggs in a large bowl. Set aside.
Combine chocolate and butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 10-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Slowly whisk chocolate mixture into egg mixture; fold in flour mixture until well combined and no dry streaks remain. Let dough stand at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Place confectioners’ sugar and remaining ⅓ cup granulated sugar in separate small bowls. Working one at a time, portion dough into 1-tablespoon balls and drop directly into granulated sugar; coat completely and shape into balls. Roll in confectioners’ sugar, and place 1 to 1½ inches apart on prepared pans.
Bake until edges are just set and cracks have formed, about 10 minutes. Let cool completely on pans.
