Chicken and Waffle Fries with milk gravy
Chicken and waffles are a restaurant menu favorite, but the twist here is waffle-cut fries. Milk gravy rounds out this Chicken and Waffle Fries Casserole for one irresistible one-pan dish.
Ingredients
Test Kitchen Tip
Par-baking the waffle fries helps their crispness when the casserole bakes. Sweet potato waffle fries work as well.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°.
Place fries in a single layer in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet. Bake fries until crisp-tender, 16 minutes; transfer to a plate and tent with foil.
Heat oil in same skillet over medium-high; add sausage and sauté until browned, 5 minutes.
Add onion; sauté until softened, 3 minutes. Stir in frozen vegetables; cook until thawed, 2 minutes.
Stir in chicken, corn, milk, syrup, and hot sauce; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer chicken mixture until thickened, 3 minutes; arrange fries on top.
Bake casserole until fries golden brown and crisp, 5–8 minutes.
Top fries with Cheddar; let stand 5 minutes before serving.
