Orange-Glazed Salmon

Orange-Glazed Salmon

Buying a side of salmon and filleting it yourself, then freezing individual portions, means this pantry meal is only as far away as your freezer. Orange-Glazed Salmon fillets and simple sautéed greens couldn’t be any better or easier. Orange marmalade and a touch of brown sugar lend a sweet element to the salmon. Cajun spice lends a little — you guessed it — spice. And lime juice freshens it all up.

How To Check Salmon For Bones

To check for pin bones, run your fingertips over the salmon fillet. Use needle-nose pliers to pull out any bones that you find.

Instructions

Combine Cajun seasoning, brown sugar, and salt; rub on both sides of fillets.

Sauté fillets in oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, 34 minutes; flip and cook other side 23 minutes more.

Whisk together marmalade and lime juice; stir into skillet until marmalade melts. Carefully flip fillets until coated with glaze on all sides. Continue to cook fillets until they flake easily with a fork.

Serve fillets with lime wedges.

Once each fillet has been checked for pin bones, rub the spice mixture into the salmon.

Carefully turn the fillets over to avoid breaking them. A fish spatula is the perfect tool and makes it easy.

Add marmalade mixture to the skillet. When marmalade is melted, turn the fish fillets to coat them.
