The ketogenic or “keto” diet is all about one thing: fat. Keto dieters obtain 70–80 percent of their calories from this macro while eating very few carbohydrates (generally fewer than 50 grams a day, or no more than 5 percent of total calories) and only moderate amounts of protein (no more than 15–20 percent of total calories).
Load up on keto-friendly ingredients, like avocado, cheese, steak, and bacon, to make these delicious and nutritious Steak-Stuffed Avocados. They're easy to put together for a quick weeknight dinner and only use a few ingredients.

Test Kitchen Tip
You have to be carb-conscious on this plan. To determine a recipe’s net carbs, you simply subtract fiber from total carbs (total carbs-fiber). For these Steak-Stuffed Avocados, the net carbs are 2 (for 8 servings) or 5 (for 4 servings).
Instructions
Cook bacon in a sauté pan until crisp; transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate. Pour off all but 1 Tbsp. drippings.
Sauté beef in drippings over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through, 3 minutes. Stir in garlic; cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Transfer beef to a bowl.
Scoop out and dice flesh of avocados, leaving a little flesh along insides of shells. Transfer diced avocado to bowl with steak; add bacon, cheese, and cilantro.
Whisk together lime juice, oil, and zest; toss with steak mixture to combine, then season with salt and pepper. Scoop steak mixture into shells; top with crema.
