Thanksgiving is preparation and doing whatever you can ahead
of the big day. With that in mind, stale the bread for the Classic Bread Dressing ahead, then assemble
it the morning of, and bake it when you take the bird out to rest.

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°.
Coat a 3-qt. baking dish with
nonstick spray.
Melt butter in a sauté pan over
medium heat; add onions
and celery and cook until soft,
about 5 minutes.
Toss in bread cubes, then stir in
2½ cups broth, milk, sage, parsley,
thyme, salt, and pepper; bring to a
boil. Reduce heat to medium-low;
simmer bread mixture until liquid
is absorbed.
Whisk together eggs and
remaining ½ cup broth; off heat,
gradually stir into bread mixture
then transfer to prepared dish.
Bake dressing until set,
40–45minutes.
