Blanch beans in a large pot of boiling salted water until nearly tender, 5 minutes. Shock beans in a bowl of ice water and drain thoroughly.
Melt butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until soft, about 2 minutes. Add beans and sauté until heated through, about 3 minutes; season with salt and pepper.
