Cook orecchiette in a pot of boiling salted water according to package directions; drain.
Heat oil in a large sauté pan over high. Add chickpeas and squash; cook until squash is tender, 5 minutes. Stir in orecchiette, broth, reserved pesto, garlic, and zest; cook to heat through, 3–4minutes.
