How Do You Clip a Bag of Chips Without a Clip?
So many brands of chips on the market, such interesting tastes and textures and such little time to try out all of them. When we do get a bag or two of our favorite chips, for a party or our personal binge-watching session, there’s a pang of guilt knocking at our door. And before we know it, we want to pack our delicious babies away until we’re ready to face the guilt again. Having chip clips around is very handy since all you gotta do is fold the top of the bag and clip it — we highly suggest buying a chip clip or two for your kitchen.
In case you don’t have one, you can just fold the bag and put it away. If you’re living in an area with high humidity, however, the chips will lose their freshness and crispiness within a day or two, leaving them unfit for enjoyable snacking. So, what do you do? You either run to the store and get yourself a chip clip right away or you can fold your bag in one of the following ways:
1. Simple Fold and Placing the Bag Upside Down
If you don’t have a clip for your leftover bag of chips, here’s how you can fold it:
- Make sure the bag is sitting upright and then give it a firm rub at its opening so a crease forms.
- Once that’s done, start folding it down by an inch in each fold.
- Do so until the fold reaches the part of the bag where the chips are.
- Now carefully grab the folded section tightly, find a stacked drawer and place the bag in an upside-down position.
- The idea is to build an equally tight grip on the bag’s opening as a clip would. So, even if you were to place a weighted object at its folded opening to build a temporary seal, you’re good.
2. Stronger Fold
If you’re not satisfied with the above method, you can do an inverted fold that’ll help you get an even tighter grip. We discovered the following way to fold our chips bags through one of the videos on Reddit:
- Make sure the bag is sitting upright and fully opened. Give it a firm rub to make sure it’s not torn up from anywhere.
- Once you’re done, take the right corner of the opening from the top and bring it to the center of the chips bag, diagonally. Give it a solid rub and make a proper crease.
- Do the same with the left corner and bring it to the center of the chips bag. Give both these folded portions a strong crease.
- Flip the chips bag without messing up these folded portions and place them down against the surface.
- Now, carefully start folding the top of the chips bag (as we earlier did with the normal fold). Make sure the folds are not longer than 1-2 inches each.
- Keep folding until you reach the area where the chips are.
- Now flip your chips bag back to the initial side. You’ll notice the corners you had folded initially have now become flaps, allowing you to invert those flaps.
- As you invert the flap on each side, you’ll notice that they’ll be tightly sealing your chips bag.
- Once you’re done, store your chips bag in a safe spot until you’re ready to much on it again.
The Takeaway?
The takeaway here is that you should invest in some chip clips and use them to seal your leftover chip bags, lentils, oats or noodles. If you’re unable to get your hands on a chip clip, you must give the bag a strong fold that ensures a tight seal and keeps the goodies inside fresh.
