3 Kitchen Gadgets You Can Take Anywhere
Camping trips are fun, but only if you’ve got a shade over your head and good food to bond over. If you’re fond of bulking up your kitchen with cool, essential gadgets, you’ll always already be a step ahead when preparing for a staycation.
There are three kitchen gadgets that you can take anywhere with you. Heading out for a trip to the mountains with nothing to carry but your backpack? All good. Staying a night with your friend at her apartment but don’t want to be a burden? You’ve got all you need. Going to the gym and haven’t had anything to eat all day? Just whip out your pre-workout supplement and use a portable blender to make a nice smoothie on the go!
1. Camping Stove
When it comes to a stove, there are two ways you could go:
Single burner stove
Get your hands on a single-burner stove that is small and practical. It’ll require you to carry a separate gas cylinder or an electricity source to light it up, but that’s not too much of a burden.
LPG cylinder with a stovetop
You can carry a mini LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) cylinder instead since it has enough gas to help you cook 2-3 very basic meals. Just install a stovetop on it, and you’re all set!
The verdict?
The beauty of carrying a cylinder with an attached stovetop is that it’s just one gadget. If you decide to opt for a camping stove, you’ll either have to rely on somebody else’s electricity source or have to carry a cylinder with you. Since the whole point of these gadgets is to make you self-sufficient, we suggest going with the combo option. It’s a small cylinder, so safety is a negligible issue here, and it only requires you to carry one gadget while allowing you to cook for 2-3 people easily. If you’ll have access to an electrical outlet, you can opt for a single-burner electric stove!
2. Portable Blender
A rechargeable USB blender is a life-saver. Why? It’s super compact, so you can take it anywhere. If the battery runs out, you can just charge it from your power bank. If you aren’t big on the local cuisine and you’re visiting a remote area, all you have to do is keep a banana in your bag and a carton of milk. Throw the banana in the blender and add some milk; blend, and you’ll have yourself a smoothie right away.
If you’re on a diet and traveling, just take a blender with you and save yourself some money as well. Or, if you like your pre-workout fresh, just use your portable blender to make the mixture right there in the gym.
3. Water Cooler
Everybody needs to stay hydrated, so whether you’re just in your car, out on a camping trip or going out for a picnic in the park, you can count on a water cooler. You can also use water coolers to keep your drinks cool or store ice.
The Takeaway
If you’re headed for a trip, solely including the above-mentioned gadgets in your arsenal usually won’t be enough. It’s best that you pair them up with basic kitchen utensils to get going, such as a pan, fork, knife, spoon, plate and glass. Make sure you’re also getting the required ingredients on the way so you can set your camp, sit tight, enjoy the view and cook in peace. When it comes to stoves, having a proper camping stove will always be the more practical choice but if adequate space is an issue, make ends meet with a small stovetop cylinder. We suggest pairing light meals (eggs and noodles) with shakes or smoothies that are full of essential nutrients — portable blenders will prove to be of great utility in that sense.
