How to Freeze Mushrooms
Believe it or not, raw mushrooms can be frozen! If you can't seem to use up fresh mushrooms before they go bad, stop wasting and start saving with this tip for freezing.
Bulk mushrooms are inexpensive, but it can be hard to use them before they spoil. However, they freeze well! Just clean them with a moist paper towel, then cut off the stems and any discoloration. Slice them using an egg slicer, then lay them in a single layer on waxed paper-lined trays and freeze. When frozen, transfer them to freezer bags for storage.
You can also freeze mushrooms whole. Line a baking sheet with parchment, place unwashed mushrooms on the pan, and freeze. When hard, transfer to a freezer bag for storage. To use, remove dirt by rubbing lightly with a paper towel — no need to thaw.
