How to Make Homemade Pancake Syrup
Don't put a recipe on hold because you're out of maple syrup. You can make your own in a matter of minutes!
If you run out of maple syrup when making pancakes (or any recipe that calls for it), try this: Bring 1 cup brown sugar and ¼ cup water to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 10–12 minutes or until syrupy (don't overcook). Add a teaspoon of maple flavoring for taste.
