How to Cut a Pineapple
Pineapple is one of the more difficult fruits to cut, because it's large, has a spiky skin and those prickly "eyes" inside the fruit once you've cut it. Here’s a way to peel pineapple with as little waste as possible and get the added bonus of decorative slices.
First, cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Now trim the skin, slicing off thin strips from top to bottom. Angle your cut to the curve of the pineapple.
Next, remove the “eyes.” See how they conveniently spiral the pineapple? Follow the spiral, and cut an angled line along both sides of a strip of eyes, leaving a trough when the strip is removed.
Continue cutting the trough around pineapple until all the eyes are removed. Cut into slices and core with a small round cutter.
