How to Easily Pit Olives
No olive pitter necessary! You can use a paper towel and your hands to easily pit olives, without the mess. Here's how to do it.
To pit olives easily, place a few in between double layers of paper towels. With your hand, roll the olives back and forth to loosen the flesh from the pits—use a little bit of pressure as you do this. Then peel back the paper towels and remove the olive flesh. This works best with slightly soft olives, such as kalamatas.
You can also simply smash them with the flat side of a large chef’s knife. The flesh will separate from the pit, making it easy to remove with your fingers.
