Preserve Herbs and Citrus in Ice Cube Form
Stock your freezer with flavorful herb and citrus ice cubes to drop into soups, stews, and sauces. No more wasting fresh herbs or citrus!
When there are more herbs in the garden than you can use, try freezing them. Place the herbs (basil, parsley, rosemary, etc.) in a food processor with 1 cup water and puree. Pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze. Pop the cubes into freezer bags for storage. The cubes can be used in stews and soups all year.
And if citrus is on sale, stock up! Zest the fruit, then juice it. Place the zest and juice into ice cube trays and freeze. Store the cubes in freezer bags. Each cube roughly equals a citrus half.
