How to Make a Slow-Cooker Sauce From Braises
Slow Cooker Sauces
The broth, wine, or juice used to braise foods in the slow cooker will turn into a gravy or sauce with these thickeners:
All-purpose flour can be used to coat meat before browning, or stir flour into the pan drippings after browning the meat.
Quick-cooking tapioca should be ground finely in a clean coffee-bean grinder before using in the slow cooker. Add ground tapioca at the start of cooking.
Cornstarch can’t withstand long cooking. Mix it with a little cold water, then add the mixture at the end of cooking.
