How to Shred Cabbage with a Vegetable Peeler
Make easy work of thinly shredding cabbage with this quick trick that saves time and hassle.
We like thinly shredded cabbage in coleslaw, but using a knife for shredding is difficult, even if the blade is really sharp. So, to shred cabbage thinly, first cut the head in half and remove the core. Then cut the halves into quarters. With a Y-shaped peeler, start “peeling” the flat surfaces of each cabbage quarter to create thin shreds.
When the quarters get too small to shred with a peeler, just use a knife to finish the job.
