What is freezer jam and why do people love it so much?
What is freezer jam? If you love homemade jams but don't want to go to the trouble of cooking and canning — or if you just prefer a fresher taste! — freezer jam might be just the thing.
What is freezer jam? Freezer jam is a no-cook jam made with fresh fruit. Because it’s not cooked, it’s especially fresh tasting compared to regular (cooked) jam. And since it’s uncooked, for long-term storage, it must be kept in the freezer, not on the pantry shelf. Like regular jam, freezer jam has added pectin to help it set up, though its final consistency will be looser than its cooked cousin’s.
But perhaps the best part, since no-cook jam is stored in the freezer, you don’t have to boil the jars of jam. Basically, freezer jam is a baby step into the world of preserving. For these reasons, people really like it.
